HISTORY

The Clearview Community Theatre was formed in the summer of 1996 by a group of adults intent on producing a musical version of Scrooge for a cast of young people. Since then we have produced fifteen shows in the community hall in Duntroon, two shows in the community hall in Avening, one show in Tollendale Village in Barrie, one show in the Clearview Community Church, one show in the Stayner Community Centre and a series of smaller shows in the Small Hall in Stayner.

We have also performed for many service clubs and in many nursing homes and seniors complexes. We have provided equipment and technical advice for many events and for several local schools.

As of June 2011, we have provided a meaningful theatrical experience for many people. At the time of their first memberships with us we have had: 61 members aged 8-12, 65 members aged 13-18, and 49 members over the age of 18. As well, over 120 people have worked on our Production Crews.

Year End Review 2010-2011

August 2010- - began vocal rehearsals for 'Willy Wonka',
- the new Board of Directors met for the first time,
- continued doing sound for Music in the Park,
- Provided sound for the 'Door' 1st annual concert,

September 2010 - began blocking rehearsals for 'Willy Wonka',
- Purchase 'Big Dot' digital sign,

October 2010 - Performed 'Willy Wonka 'in Duntroon,

November 2010 - Performed 'Willy Wonka' in Duntroon,
- We provided sound for the Stayner Chamber Tree Lighting Ceremony,
- Board unanimously votes to end doing sound for community events,

December 2010 - Auditions held for 'You're a Good Man Charlie Brown',
- we held our company party for 'Willy Wonka',
- we provided lighting for the 1st Presbyterian Church in Collingwood,

January 2011 - the Playbill Committee met to peruse possible shows for the fall of 2011; came up with 3 possibilities; Gren to peruse scripts & report to the Board,
- Children Travelling Troupe rehearsals began,
- Rehearsals begin for 'You're a Good Man Charlie Brown',

February 2011- submitted a request for a Township Grant
- Children Travelling Troupe rehearsals continued
- Open Travelling Troupe rehearsals began,
- Rehearsals began on 'You're a Good Man Charlie Brown'
- Provided sound for the Township Health & Leisure Show,
- Provided an information booth at the Township Health & Leisure Show,
- Children Travelling Troupe & selected 'Charlie Brown' cast perform at the Township Health & Leisure Show,
- Bought a block of tickets for 'Lion King' for May 29th

March 2011- we received a grant from the Township of Clearview, Travelling Troupes rehearsals continued,
- Rehearsals continued on 'Charlie Brown'
- Six theatre cubes made for 'Charlie Brown'

April 2011- We performed 'Charlie Brown'
- Six more theatre cubes made for 1st Easter Story,
- We provide lighting & piping & draping for 1st Easter Story,
- 1st Pres. Church gives us black heavy back-drop,
- Travelling Troupes rehearsals continued,
- Meta-Soft Committee met and worked on foundation search,

May 2011 - We announced 'Into the Woods' as our fall show for 2010,
- Travelling Troupes perform in the community,
- Travel spots used by Clearview Meadows Public School,
- We did the lighting of a musical night at the 1st Presbyterian Church in Collingwood,
- Took 56 people to see 'The Lion King',

June 2011 - Children's Travelling Troupe performs for two churches,
- We held auditions for 'Into the Woods',
- Travel spots used by Clearview Meadows Public School,

July 2011- renewed our Theatre Ontario membership,

August 2011 - Held a Storage Barn clean-up,
